Code of Conduct

Overview

San Diego Design Week (SDDW) does not tolerate harassment of participants in any form and requires acknowledgment of a code of conduct, which applies equally to directors, organizers, representatives, volunteers, and attendees. The code of conduct bars harassment of any kind, including violent threats or language, discriminatory jokes and language, sexually explicit or violent material, and personal insults. All participants must adhere to behavior that is safe and respectful of the organizers and other attendees.

This code of conduct applies to all physical and virtual spaces managed by SDDW. Violations of this code outside these spaces may affect a person's ability to participate within them. Participants violating these rules may be removed from any event or future event without a refund and/or barred from online channels at the discretion of the organizers.

An openness and willingness to connect with others

San Diego’s culture of inclusion and connectivity is part of what makes it America’s Finest City. Introduce yourself, broaden your knowledge, and network in our vibrant community. Networking is difficult, helping those around you brings success to you, the design community, and most importantly our beloved city of San Diego!

Be respectful

SDDW's mission is to promote the exchange of ideas across design disciplines. As all designers know, embracing a diversity of perspectives, experiences, and opinions enriches our ability to create meaningful solutions to problems. Be judgement-free and listen to presenters and fellow-attendees. Thoughtfully choose your words, harassment and other exclusionary behavior are not acceptable.

Be welcoming

In design, it is vital to be a community that welcomes and supports people of all backgrounds and identities. This includes, but is not limited to members of any race, ethnicity, culture, national origin, color, immigration status, social and economic class, educational level, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, age, size, family status, political belief, religion, and mental and physical ability.

Enjoy the experience

This is the inaugural year of SDDW. You will be making history! Don't forget to take it in and savor all the sessions you attend and the individuals you meet.

Please contact a SDDW team member, a member of security, or volunteers if issues arise. All reports will be handled with confidentiality. We can be reached via email at [email protected].

Views and opinions expressed at SDDW are those of the contributors and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of Mingei International Museum or event directors, organizers, representatives, or volunteers.
